We are excited that you have chosen Hill College to further your educational goals. Listed below are some useful steps to help you get started.
Step 1. Apply for Admission
Apply online using the Texas Common Application, Apply Texas.

Step 2. Transcripts
- Transferable College Credit Hours
- An individual who is a transfer student from another college must be eligible for readmission to the institution in which the student last enrolled. Transfer students must meet the academic requirements of Hill College. Only credits from accredited institutions recognized the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) will be accepted.
- Students that have taken dual/concurrent credit while in high school are required to provide an official high school transcript as well as an official transcript from the college attended.
- Transcripts with in-progress coursework will be considered unofficial. Grades must be provided for each term attended.
- Students that have attended other colleges or universities, but earned zero credits will be required to follow admissions requirements as a new student. A high school transcript or GED will be required. If no high school or GED is available, the student may be admitted under the terms of individual approval.
- Students transferring in a GPA of 2.00 or lower will be considered for admission only through a probationary status. Students will need to set an Academic Plan with the Academic Advising & Student Success Center before registration can be completed.
Step 3. Meningitis Vaccination
Meningitis Vaccination is required for any student who is 30 years or younger and are attending classes on a Hill College campus. For further information and instructions, please see our Bacterial Meningitis informational webpage.
Step 4. Academic Placement Requirements
- ACADEMIC ASSOCIATE, ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE, OR CERTIFICATE OF TECHNOLOGY degree seeking students must show current academic skill level by assessment taken with Accuplacer, THEA, Compass or Asset or college transfer work in reading, math and English.
- TSI Assessment is given on Hill and Johnson County Testing Centers daily for a charge of $39.
**You may qualify for exemption from testing if your Exit Level TAKS, ACT or SAT scores are above the exemption cut
score. Advising Centers can assist with score review. Bring copies of test score reports with you when you meet with
- CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION degree seeking students are waived from placement requirements as long as they continue under the Certificate of Completion degree plan.
**Vocational Nursing Certificate of Completion need to show placement assessment prior to enrolling.
Step 5. Financial Assistance
Payment for tuition and fees are due at the time of registration. Students should be prepared to make payment or arrange for financial assistance.

- Complete the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for federal, state, institutional grants, work‐study, and student loans at www.fafsa.gov.
- PRIORITY DEADLINE FOR THE FAFSA (FALL– JULY 1ST, SPRING– NOVEMBER 1ST, SUMMER– APRIL 1ST)

- After applying for the FAFSA, a student should receive information from the college within two weeks. If you don’t receive information on your application, please contact the Financial Aid Office. Additional documentation may be required to complete you aid package.
- Apply for HILL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS online by July 1.
STEP 6. REGISTRATION & DEGREE PLAN
Most students choose to register online for their courses, but Hill College recommends seeking out academic advising assistance at least once each semester. In most cases, registration for the next term opens several months prior to the 1st class day. It is important to seek out adivising assistance to stay on track and plan out the best and faster options for completing your chosen educational path.
- See an Academic Advisor in the Academic Advising and Student Success Center. Our staff will assign a degree plan and provide you with tools that can help you succeed in your college career.
- Review your information in MyRebel. This portal is your hub for your student account and ONLINE REGISTRATION. MyRebel is the location where you gain student records, check for account holds, view schedules, course availability, view financial aid missing documents, check financial aid awards, accept financial aid awards, pay accounts, set up payment plans, and much, much, more.
- Set up Student Email Account. This email is your official communication hub for Hill College. You should use this email to communication with college departments and instructors. Hill College utilizes your student email to communicate important information. Please make sure that you check this email account often.
- Enrollment Checklist will assist you with important information that you will need to know in order to navigate through your college experience.
