Lady Rebels Roll, Runnin' Rebels Fall to CollinThe Hill College basketball teams split their games against Collin College on Wednesday in Plano. The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Coyotes, 52-38, to improve to 16-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Runnin' Rebels lost to the Coyotes, 84-79, in overtime, to drop to 9-10 overall and 0-2 in conference.

The Lady Rebels grabbed an early 29-14 advantage before the Lady Coyotes went on a 8-0 run to trail 29-22 at the half. In the second half, Hill controlled the tempo and played solid defense en route to the 52-38 win. With the win, the Lady Rebels set themselves up for a conference showdown with #16 Weatherford College at 2 p.m., this Saturday. The winner will have sole possession of first place in the conference.

The Lady Rebels were led by sophomores Shamonte Lanfair and Aron Garcia who had 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The Runnin' Rebels' game was an evenly matched affair from the start. The game was tied at the half, 35-35, and then again at the end of regulation, 75-75. In overtime, the Coyotes managed to outscore the Rebels 9-5 to win the game.

The Rebels were led by sophomore Kevin Jefferson who had 23 points and seven assists. Hill also received strong contributions from sophomore John Odo (17 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks), sophomore Dwight Gist (12 points, eight rebounds and six assists) and Tevin Calhoun (16 points, four rebounds).
