Orientation Scheduled for Hill College Hybrid Fire Program

            The Hill College Fire Protection Program will have a mandatory orientation for  interested persons on Saturday, August 16, in Hillsboro and in Cleburne. The Hillsboro orientation will be from 9 a.m. until noon, while the Cleburne orientation will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Students will learn about gear, classroom expectations and other elements critical to student success

            The Fire Protection Program is offering a new hybrid fire academy in Cleburne starting this fall, in addition to the hybrid academy the college has been operating in Hillsboro since 2012. Students complete the online work during the week and come to class every Saturday to practice hands-on skills. Students who successfully complete the program take the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) test to earn the Basic Structural Firefighting Certification.

            The Hill College Fire Protection Technology program was recently named a nationally ranked fire science program by FS Online (firescience.org). The program ranked 38th out of the top 90 programs across the nation and eighth in the state.
