Training options still open in Industrial Maintenance

Training for the high-demand field of industrial maintenance is still available for anyone who missed the start of the fall semester at Hill College. Two classes are set to begin Oct. 16 as part of the College’s second eight-week session, and will end Dec. 7.

The classes, Machine Shop Math and Introduction to Industrial Maintenance, will be held in Cleburne, and will give students the foundational skills they need to proceed through the program. Both classes are required for the Basic Industrial Maintenance Skills Certificate which is the first of the stackable, fast-track certificates that lead to an associate of applied science degree.

Machine Shop Math is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon. This course prepares students with the technical, applied mathematics skills and knowledge that is used in other machine shop-related courses. Introduction to Industrial Maintenance will be taught Mondays and Wednesdays, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Along with mechanic skills and safety, class topics include precision measurements, the OSHA Lockout/Tagout standard, torque and fasteners. 

Industrial maintenance is a high-demand field in north central Texas, appearing on Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas’ Targeted Occupations List. The list is based on economic indicators validated by training providers and economic developers throughout the region. 

Industrial maintenance technicians maintain and repair factory equipment and other industrial machinery, such as conveying systems, production machinery and packaging equipment.
