The Hill College rodeo teams hosted their home rodeo April 5-6th, and the men’s team placed second with 523 points behind Wharton County Junior College who won the rodeo with 783.5 points. McNeese State University was third with 479 points and Panola Junior College had 409 points to finish fourth at the rodeo.

 In the bareback riding, Andrew Kapala, sophomore from Gainesville, placed second with a 78-point score on his ride. 

In the tie-down roping, Cooper Mathews, sophomore from Cleburne, had a 9.1-second time and placed third. 

In the saddle bronc riding, Jarrod Hammons, sophomore from Stephenville, placed first with a 77-point score and Parker Fleet, freshman from Axtell, finished third with a 71-point score. 

In the steer wrestling, Scott Steiner, freshman from Decatur, had a 6.5-second time and placed fifth. Layne York, freshman from Huntsville, had a 13.5-second time and was eighth. 

In the team roping event, Cyle Denison, sophomore from Iowa, La., and Ross Ashford, sophomore from Lott had a 4.9-second time and placed first. Heeler McCoy Profili, sophomore from Anderson, who ropes with Wyatt Muggli from Texas A&M Commerce, placed second with a 5.6-second time. 

On the women’s team, Raelee Self, sophomore from Sumner, placed sixth in the barrel racing with a time of 14.57 seconds. 

The men’s team remains third in the southern region standings with 3,707 points, behind McNeese State University with 3,918.5 points. Panola Junior College is in first with 4,580 points. Hill College has 11 student-athletes in the top 10 of the regional standings and one fifth in the regional all-around standings. The final rodeo of the season will be held at Wharton County Junior College on April 26-27.
