HC Volleyball Home Opener Against Eastfield College This Thursday
HILLSBORO – With wins over nationally ranked San Jacinto College (#4) and Western Texas College (#20), the Hill College Volleyball team is off to their best start in over five years with a 8-3 record. The Lady Rebels will host Eastfield College this Thursday in their home season opener.
This year’s squad is led by freshman outside hitter Laycia Robinson with 4.46 kills per set which is sixth in the nation. Trinity Valley Community College transfer Amy Holt is 12th in the nation with 4.75 digs per set sophomore setter Chelby
Stanford is 16th nationally with 9.72 assists per set. The team has also received strong contributions from sophomore right-side hitter Tammy Leranth and freshman outside hitter Braylee Flaska.
"Our girls are excited to finally get a chance to play here in Hillsboro in front of a home crowd on their own floor. Fans should expect a fun atmosphere and good volleyball,” first-year Head Coach Samantha Erger said. “Preseason tournaments have been great and our team has put together some really nice match play going 8-3, however, their goals are centered around competing and being at the top of the NTJCAC so they are excited to get started."
