Hill College to Honor Cleburne Campus “Founding Fathers”
Hill College is delighted to honor the Johnson County Campus Founding Fathers as Pillars of the Community at the upcoming Boots and Suits Gala on April 11, 2015 in Cleburne, Texas. They are Eddie Saylors (deceased), Dewey James, Thomas Hazlewood and W.E. Carroll.
The Founding Fathers are being honored for their roles as senior members of the Johnson County Steering Committee, in addition to their long histories of service to the Cleburne community and Johnson County.
Through their roles on the Johnson County Steering Committee, these men made possible the establishment of Hill College’s current Johnson County Campus through the passage of an educational maintenance fee via a branch campus maintenance tax election in November of 1997. Through their considerable efforts, the proposed maintenance fee was successfully placed on the ballot in nine separate school districts and passed with flying colors in eight.
The great success of the campaign was in no small part a product of the history of philanthropy and civic leadership that each of these men brought to the process. Their expertise, character, and passion for the advancement of the Cleburne community has been and continues to be a great benefit to both the college and all the communities of Johnson County. For more information about the Hill College Boots and Suits Gala, visit www.hillcollege.edu/boots
