Hill College to Honor Burleson Opportunity Fund Board
Hill College is delighted to honor the Board of the Burleson Opportunity Fund as Pillars of the Community at the upcoming Boots and Suits Gala on April 11, 2015 in Cleburne, Texas.
The Board of the Burleson Opportunity Fund is being honored for their incredible vision and commitment to advancing the future of the Burleson community by providing the means for every high school student of Burleson, Texas to receive a college education.
Initially conceived in 2007 as part of the City of Burleson's Strengthening Families Initiative, the Burleson Opportunity Fund is a scholarship program open to all high school graduates who live or attend school in Burleson, Texas. The ultimate goal of the Burleson Opportunity Fund is to provide every high school graduate from Burleson the opportunity to attain post-secondary education. The Burleson Opportunity Fund was created with a mission to change the expectations of students, teachers, and parents to include the idea that all Burleson high school graduates will have the opportunity to attain higher education and to cultivate the economic development benefits of expanding the attainment of post-secondary degrees and career certifications.
Currently, the students Burleson have been guaranteed up to 1 year, 100% tuition and fees scholarship to attend Hill College at Burleson, however, with tuition to Hill College being economical, the board is expanding the scholarship fund in order guarantee two years' tuition and book costs to every Burleson graduate who would like to attend college.
