Texas Heritage Museum to Participate in Blue Star Museums

05.18.15

The Texas Heritage Museum has announced its participation in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2015.

“Participating in this program is our way of honoring our active military and their families,” said John Versluis, dean of the Texas Heritage Museum. “Since admission is always free at the Texas Heritage Museum, we invite our service members to visit the museum this summer and enjoy a 10 percent discount in our gift shop.”

The museum is home to the Official Texas State Medal of Honor Memorial to Native-Born Texans and will be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Admission is free.

Along with Civil War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam War galleries, collections and personal stories of native Texans, the Texas Heritage Museum will have The Forgotten War exhibit on display throughout the summer.
