Hill College residence hall students learn safety tips from guest speaker representing Family Abuse Center
Hill College students currently residing in Dudley, Frazier and Bailey residence halls had an opportunity to hear a presentation about domestic violence, stalking and harassment from a guest speaker with the Family Abuse Center in Waco on Jan. 21 in the Vara Daniel Performing Arts Center in Hillsboro.
Jennifer Gardner, a Rural Legal Advocate with the Family Abuse Center, talked about traits of an unhealthy relationship; statistics on occurrence; definition of stalking; examples of stalking – including through social media, texts and emails; and service provided by the Family Abuse Center.
“It is important to provide our students with information about sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking to ensure they are knowledgeable about the signs and risks of abuse and know the rights and services available to them,” Hill College Vice President of Student Services Lizza Trenkle said. “Safety and security are our top priorities for our students at Hill College.”
