Physical Training Requirements

Students will be required to perform certain job functions that may require the student to be able to carry at least 120 pounds. Another requirement for employment in EMS is extended hours without sleep. In order to prepare the student for these tasks each EMS student will be required to perform physical exercise to include but not limited to:

Push ups
Sit ups
Leg lifts

Walking with a patient, equipment and supplies over various terrains. Perform CPR for an extended period of time not to exceed sixty minutes. Remain at a clinical rotation site for twenty four hours while completing ambulance rotations.

The physical training begins in conjunction with your knowledge of the prehospital care environment. The student should continue a strength and cardiovascular regime on his/her own after beginning the EMS program.

Hill Colleges EMS program wants each student to lead a healthy lifestyle and be able to care for the sick and injured in a concise and timely manner.

Remember who is going to take care of your patient if you become a patient yourself?
