Program Objectives

EMT - Basic

Upon completion of the Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Program the student will have the knowledge to perform the basic procedures, knowledge, and development of skills in emergency medical care in classroom and clinical sessions to be successful Emergency Medical Technicians. Signs, symptoms and basic treatment of emergency medical and trauma situations are stressed along with non-invasive skills procedures to include the following:

  • Airway Oxygen & Ventilation Skills - Upper Airway Adjuncts & Suction
  • Oxygen Administration
  • Bag Valve Mask - Apenic Patient
  • Bleeding Control - Shock Management
  • Cardiac Arrest Management (AED)
  • Immobilization Skills - Joint Injury
  • Immobilization Skills - Long Bone
  • Immobilization Skills - Traction Splinting
  • Patient Assessment Management - Medical
  • Patient Assessment Management - Trauma
  • Spinal Immobilization - Seat Patient
  • Spinal Immobilization - Supine Patient


EMT - Intermediate/Paramedic

This course covers basic procedures, knowledge, and development of skills in emergency medical care in classroom and clinical sessions. (Prerequisites: Must be 18 years old to test with Texas Department of Health). Signs, symptoms and basic treatment of emergency medical and trauma situations are stressed along with invasive skill procedures to include the following:
