EMT - DRUG TESTING POLICY

Hill College strives to maintain a drug free working environment along with all of the clinical sites utilized by Hill College during EMS training. In an effort to protect the student, patients and staff members Hill Colleges EMS program will require each prospective EMS student to have a drug analysis performed prior to allowing a student to participate in classroom and clinical rotations.

  1. Each prospective EMS student is required to have a drug screen completed prior to the third (3rd) day of class room instruction. If the initial drug screen has a positive result the student will be required to have a second drug screen test performed using the hair follicle or blood testing methods within a 48 hour time period.
  2. Each student will be required to pay for the initial and retesting if needed for his/her drug analysis.
  3. If a second drug analysis returns positive, the student will be sent to the Director of Student Life for counseling.
  4. Each student is subject to a random drug test and will be required to pay for the random testing process if chosen.
  5. No student will be allowed to participate in a clinical or classroom setting as long as the drug analysis returns with a positive result.
  6. The drug analysis process can be administered at Occufit,
      1014 N. Nolan River Road,
      Cleburne, Texas.
      Phone 817.517.7151.
The cost for the drug analysis is approximately $40.00.
