HILL COLLEGE - DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY

  1. Hill College policy prohibits the unlawful manufacturer, possession, use, sale, and transfer, purchase of a controlled substance or designer drug on the campus. It is also a violation of College policy for anyone to unlawfully possess, use, or be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or controlled substance on the campus or at a college related activity off-campus.
  2. No student will be under the influence of any drug while attending a clinical rotation site which includes a hospital or emergency medical service providing pre-hospital care.
  3. The Student shall not consume or be under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or prescription medication at least eight (8) hours prior to beginning a clinical rotation in a hospital or emergency medical service providing pre-hospital care.
  4. If a student is suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance or alcoholic beverage the student will be sent for a drug analysis immediately.
  5. If a drug analysis is performed and returns with a positive result or if the student admits to EMS program staff that he/she has taken a controlled substance, medication, or consumed an alcoholic beverage the student shall be dismissed from the Hill College EMS training program immediately.
  6. Any student found to be in violation of this policy will not be eligible for re-admission into the EMS training program.
