Skills Proficiency Requirements

This skills proficency course is required as part of the application process to the ADN Transition program. The skills refresher course is a 6 week course offered through the Hill College Continuing Education Department. The focus of the skills refresher course is to review the LVN/Paramedic on the following skills:

            Medication Administration

            IV Insertion and Maintenance

            Urinary Catheter Insertion

            Dosage Calculations

Successful completion of this 6 week course is measured by the LVN/Paramedic demonstrating proficiency with these skills.

The prospective student can request a Skills Proficiency challenge test.  If the prospective student does not successfully completes the Skills Proficiency challenge test then he or she must complete the 6 week Skills Proficiency course prior to the applicaiton deadline date.

If the prospective student chooses to challenge the skills proficiency exam he or she needs to aware that prospective student will be alowed only one attempt too show proficiency in the 4 skills requirements.  Prospective students who request the challenge test can not request  tutorials, practice time prior to the challenge test from any Health Science faculty or staff.
