What is Tech Prep?
Tech Prep is a college preparatory program providing high school students with a head start on college technical courses, certificates or degrees.

What is a six year plan?
Tech Prep students will have a six year plan to assist them in focusing on a sequenced program of study. It is a four year graduation plan based on a Recommended High School Program (RHSP) and a two year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree which provides the student with a six year plan of obtaining education to prepare them for a career in the future.

What do I do obtain my Tech Prep credit?
  1. Talk to your high school counselor to determine what career/technical program you are interested in pursuing to meet your future goals. Together, you can determine the courses you need to take.
  2. Obtain your six year plan for your high school classes and recommendations for your future college courses.
  3. After high school graduation and within 18 months from your graduation date, apply and declare your career/technical major with Hill College. Be sure to have an official copy of your high school transcript sent to the Enrollment Management Office, Hill College, 112 Lamar Drive, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
  4. Meet with a Hill College Counselor or faculty advisor before registering for college courses. Be sure your high school transcript is evaluated and your Tech Prep courses are considered.
  5. Register for courses.
  6. Complete a minimum of 12 college credit hours with Hill College and received a "C" or better in each course.
  7. Contact Lizza Trenkle, Dean of Instruction, regarding the awarding of your Tech Prep credit.
