What is the Reskilling Grant?

The Texas Reskilling Support Fund Grant Program is established to support displaced Texas workers who need to reskill or upskill to get back into the workforce and Texas students who have previously stopped out of higher education institutions without completing a postsecondary credential. Hill College has been fortunate to receive a $112,500 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to fund student emergency aid grants to those enrolled in one of the following majors/degrees:

Criteria

  • Texas residents eligible for in-state tuition as determined by Hill College,
  • Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),
  • Have financial need and/or are eligible for federal Title IV aid,
  • Have affirmed they were affected by COVID-19,
  • Are enrolled in an eligible undergraduate program or short-term workforce credential program on either full time or part time basis,
  • Have NOT been enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution in the previous academic (long) semester or previous six months, and
  • Have completed at least 50% of their credential program.

Student Awards

  • Reskilling Grant funds may apply toward tuition and fees, and up to $500 for supplemental expenses (books & supplies) as defined in the college’s cost of attendance.
  • Reskilling Grant funds will apply to a student’s account after state and institutional aid.
  • Reskilling Grant award amounts cannot exceed $2,500 per semester/term per student.
