Program Summary

Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics are crucial members of the medical community who serve an important role in society. They are first responders and care takers who provide life-saving support to individuals in medical emergencies. They also provide crucial information to physicians in emergency situations.

This program offers state-of-the-art technology and high-quality, real-world training to aid students in their education and prepare them with the skills and education they need to be in the field.

Graduates from this program will have the opportunity to enter positions in emergency medicine, as EMTs and paramedics, as well as fire departments, and those interested in the pre-hospital field.

Application Process/Student Check List

  1. Complete the Hill College EMS Program requirements for admission into HIll College.
  2. Complete the Hill College EMS Program application.
  3. Acknowledge Student Responsibility Form
  4. Reading Comprehension and Math Skills Requirements (Paramedic Students TSI).
  5. High School Diploma or GED (no exceptions)
  6. A valid non-expired U.S. or State government issued identification
  7. A valid non-expired American Heart Association CPR BLS for Health Care Provider Card (Paramedic only)
  8. Proof of Personal Health Insurance (copy of front and back of insurance card)
  9. Immunizations
    • 2 MMR’s
    • 2 Varicella's (Chicken Pox)
    • 3 Hepatitis B Series (3 injections)
    • 1 Tetanus within last 7 years
    • 1 Tdap as an adult (if the Tdap is within 7 years at time of enrollment Tetanus not needed)
    • Influenza
    • 2 step TB results must be completed within 2 weeks and must be less than 6 months old at time of registration in an EMS program
  10. Health Screening form (completed by provider of your choice)
  11. Pay for Drug Test and Background– must pay and submit payment receipt to EMSP department prior to first class day.

For students in this course who may have a criminal background, please be advised that the background could keep you from being licensed by the State of Texas. If you have a question about your background and licensure, please speak with your faculty member or the department chair. You also have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the applicable licensing agency.
