Hill College Responds to Tragedy in West

HILLSBORO -- Although Hill College was not directly affected by last night's explosion of a fertilizer plant in West, Texas, the college community is rallying to aid its neighbors.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of the West community," said Dr. Sheryl Kappus, Hill College president, adding that counseling services are available to anyone who needs help. Call the Student Advising and Success Center at (254) 659-7650.

Classes were on a normal schedule, but faculty will understand if any students miss class because many of them have connections with the West community and may be participating in relief efforts. Many students and staff are helping by collecting clothing and food that they will deliver for those affected by the blast.

The United Christian Fellowship building on the Hillsboro campus has its doors open for shelter, food and fellowship to anyone who has been affected by the tragedy.
