Rodeo Men's Team Wins Wharton County Rodeo


HILLSBORO – The Hill College Rodeo men’s team wrapped up their 2012-13 season by winning the Wharton County Junior College NIRA rodeo held April 26-27. With the win, the men’s team will advance to the College National Finals Rodeo in June.

Marvin Alderman won the bareback riding competition with a score of 78. Cody Schneider split second place with a 73 score and Colt Bruce secured his spot on the national team with a fifth place finish and score of 71.

Anthony Jordan won the calf roping event with a time of 11.6 and Blane Cox placed fourth with a 13.1 time. The fourth place finish secured the Southern Region All-Around title for Cox.

In bronc riding, Michael Houston won the event with a 74 while Dustin Fox finished seventh with 61. In bull riding, Dalton Votaw secured his place on the national team with a fourth place finish and a score of 76.

The College National Finals Rodeo will be June 9-15 in Casper, Wyo. The team will consist of Cox (steer wrestling, calf roping), Jordan (calf roping), Bruce (bareback riding), Houston (bronc riding), Votaw (bull riding) and Joe Dee Norell (team roping).
