Brock McGuire Band to Perform on March 3

The Brock McGuire Band to perform at Hill College

If you can’t wait for St. Patrick’s Day to get your Irish on, the Brock McGuire Band will bring the Emerald Isle to Hillsboro on Tuesday, March 3.  With their new CD collaboration with 14–time Grammy Award Winner Ricky Skaggs being hailed as “A Masterpiece” by American Music critic Bill Margeson, the Brock McGuire Band brings an internationally recognized brand of traditional Irish music for local audiences to enjoy.  The group is fronted by founding members: button accordionist and melodeonist Paul Brock and fiddler Manus McGuire, two of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians who have been at the forefront of Irish music for many years.  In addition to their Irish fare, the group will sprinkle in their impressive arrangements of American Old Timey, Bluegrass, French-Canadian and the music of other Celtic traditions.

As well as entertaining virtuoso performers, the members of Brock McGuire Band are experienced educators and master musicians respected throughout the Irish traditional and Celtic music communities. As trusted ambassadors of Irish traditional music, the band members teach instrumental, vocal, and ensemble master classes highlighting the unique techniques, repertoire, and cultural context of Irish music.  College and university professors from throughout the United States and abroad give the band their highest praise for their knowledge, virtuosity and engaging manner.

The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Vara Martin Daniel Performing Arts Center, just behind the Texas Heritage Museum on the Hillsboro Campus and is free and open to the public.  A reception hosted by the Hill County Retired Teacher’s Association will follow this event.
