Runnin’ Rebels Ranked #2

The Hill College Runnin’ Rebels basketball team continues to dominate their opponents, as they move up in the National Junior College Athletic Association polls. New polls released on February 10 placed the Rebels, who are 24-1 this season, at number two in the NJCAA Division I, up from number four the week before. The Rebels are the highest ranked one-loss team in the polls.

The men’s basketball team is currently undefeated in Conference play, with only two games remaining in the season. Their only loss came in the championship game of the Elite 8 Tournament in Kansas in December, when Coffeyville Community College scored in the third overtime. With a record of 24-1 and their latest victory over #25 ranked rival McLennan Community College, Hill College is poised for another great season following a 27-7 performance last year which resulted in a NJCAA Region V Championship and a 9th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.

The Runnin’ Rebels are first in defensive rebounds per game, total rebounds per game and assists per game of all Division I teams. They’re also second in three-pointers and third in overall points per game.

With an average of 100 points a game and 10.7 three-pointers made per game the Rebels put on quite the show with lots of dunks and 3’s made. The Rebels play their final home game of the season this Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Bob Bullock Sports Center versus Temple College and welcomes all fans in the community to come out and support Hill College in what is sure to be an exciting final regular season game!
