Rebels Basketball Students Awarded


Conference and Region award winners

The National Junior College Athletic Association recently released the Region V conference and region awards list. Eight Hill College players and Head Coach Swede Trenkle were among the selected recipients.

            Sophomore Marcus Johnson, Jr. was selected the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference’s most valuable player. He was also selected for the All-Conference Team, the All-Region Team and was nominated as an All-American.

             Other players selected to the All-Conference team were: Tyrell Green, sophomore; Jemerrio Jones, freshman; and Coris Williams Jr, sophomore. Tyrell Green was also selected for the All-Region Team.

             Sophomore Evan Moorman was selected to the 2nd Team All-Conference. Sophomores Kristian Keys and Stefan Zecevic, and Freshman Devocio Butler were selected as Honorable Mentions.

             Swede Trenkle, head coach for the Men’s Basketball team, was selected as the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Trenkle led his team to a 27-2 season this year. The Rebels ended the season nationally ranked as the #3 team in Division I and will return to the national tournament next week.
