Texas PTA Executive Director to visit Hill College on Nov. 10, parents encouraged to attend
Hillsboro native and current Executive Director for Texas PTA Kyle Ward will be making a special appearance Nov. 10 at Hill College (Hillsboro campus) to talk to with area PTA members as well as other interested educational groups beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Vara Martin Daniels Performing Arts Center. The topic of Ward’s message is, “Student Success is No Accident with Advocacy, Engagement and Communication.” Ward said his topic will address House Bill 5’s mandate for campus parent groups and the power of parents to advocate and become more engaged with their children’s education.
“Times are different and it’s important to understand effective communication between school and home,” he added. “My message is for all educators and parents – regardless of whether their campus has a PTA or not,” he added.
Ward was raised in Hillsboro, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1982 and from Hill College in 1984. At Hill College, he was the Student Government Co-President and a member of the jazz and concert bands and Hill Players. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from The University of Texas at Arlington. Ward’s career in non-profit management spans nearly 30 years working for the Boy Scouts of America in Dallas and Mothers Against Drunk Driving National Office in Irving. In 2006, he became the Executive Director for Texas PTA located in Austin, the oldest and largest child advocacy association in Texas with approximately a half million members.
Ward and his wife, Pamela, have two sons – Taylor, a sophomore at McMurry University; and Bryce, a sophomore at Rouse High School in Leander ISD.
