Historic Season Ends For Runnin' Rebels

HUTCHINSON, KAN. – The Hill College Runnin’ Rebels’ best season in 40 years came to an end on Wednesday night as they fell to Jones County Junior College 91-82 in the second round of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. With the loss, the Runnin’ Rebels finish in ninth place at the tournament, and end the season with a record of 26-8.


The Bobcats led at halftime 34-31, but Hill had a 60-56 advantage with 6:56 remaining in the game. The Runnin’ Rebels led by two points (71-69) with 1:24 left, but Jones County was able to tie the game and send it to overtime. In overtime, the Bobcats eventually were able to pull away and win by the final score of 91-82.

The Runnin’ Rebels were led by Tramique Sutherland who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Tyrell Bellot-Green and Jared Johnson also contributed with 15 points each.
