Basketball Teams Sweep Southwestern Christian

HILLSBORO – The Hill College basketball teams swept their games against Southwestern Christian College on Wednesday at the Bob Bullock Sports Center. The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Rams, 101-45, to improve to 14-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Runnin' Rebels beat the Rams, 100-79, to improve to 17-3 overall and 2-0 in conference.
The Lady Rebels were led by Shuntay Raglin and Jordan Mitchell who had 16 points each.
"The first half was a bit sloppy as I didn't feel we shot the ball that well (13-35) and we had way too many turnovers (17),” Head Coach Scott Hyland said. “The second half, we played with a greater focus and I think the score reflected that. We did a good job controlling the boards which helped us get out in transition and get some good shots."
In the Runnin' Rebels' game, the Rams led 46-44 at halftime, but Hill seized command in the second half by outscoring them 56-33 en route to the 100-79 victory.
The Rebels were led by sophomore Tramique Sutherland who had 20 points, 12 assists and four steals. Jared Johnson, Kristian Keys and Tyrell Bellot-Green also contributed with 17 points each.
The next home game for both teams is Wednesday, January 22, against McLennan Community College. The Lady Rebels begin the doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. For more information on the Hill College basketball teams, visit www.hillcollege.edu/athletics/.
