Hill College’s baseball team looks to carry over its 2022 pre-conference winning record into conference play beginning next week.

Head Coach Chris Rateike, who is now coaching in his 15th season for the Rebels, said his team is prepared for a powerful conference lineup that includes three nationally-ranked programs including McLennan Community College (No. 5), Weatherford College (No. 13), and Temple College (No. 20).

Rateike also has a relatively young team comprised of 34 freshmen and only 13 sophomores.

Hill College currently boasts a 12-4 record as the team prepares for conference play, including a perfect 9-0 mark at home. The Rebels will be put to the test early as they open the conference season with back-to-back series against both McLennan Community College and Weatherford College.

Hill College will host McLennan Community College in a doubleheader on March 16. The first game is scheduled to begin at noon (seven innings); followed by the second game at 2 p.m. (nine innings).

Once conference play begins, the Rebels will have 31 games in 53 days.

The final game of the regular season is May 7 against Ranger College in Ranger.
