The Hill College Women’s Soccer enter the year in the preseason rankings at #19 coming off of last year’s 13-2 season which concluded at the District Championship game. It was also the 5th straight region title for the Hill College Soccer Program.

“The Women’s Team started the season off with a rematch of the District Championship game against #8 Butler Community College, El Dorado, Kan., this past Sunday and unfortunately fell again 2-1, however, with new key freshmen such as #7 Risa Yamada, of Hiroshima, Japan, and #21 Jami Anderson of Austin, the chances to win the game were there, but the luck was not,” said Head Soccer Coach Paul Davenport.

“The Men’s Team started the year off with a game versus #7 Barton Community College, Great Bend, Kans., and missing a few key players such as #7 Maycol Reyes of Midlothian and #4 Emmanuel Kollie from Australia, we fell short, however, with the team showing signs of the 2014, 2015, and 2016 men’s teams which all went to the National Championship tournament a rematch with Barton could be likely at this year’s District Championship,” said Coach Davenport.

Both teams won the Wednesday, Aug. 28, match and now go into the next game on Friday, Aug. 30, (1-1) the girls continued their winning streak over Mountain View with a 5-0 win and overall record against Mountain View with an 8-0 record while outscoring them 52-2 in the series history. The men also beat Mountain View with a 4-1 win and extended the win total in the series history to 8-1 while outscoring them 25-8.

Davenport begins his ninth season as the head coach of the Hill College men's and women's soccer programs. Since joining the Hill College Soccer program, Davenport has established Hill Soccer as a regional and nationally respected program. Hill Soccer has achieved the following during Davenport’s time: eight combined Region V titles, 2 District titles, and three consecutive trips to the NJCAA National Championship tournament.
