HB 2504

In the 2009 legislative session, the Texas Legislature passed HB 2504, which requires all public institutions of higher education to make available certain information on the institution's website. This information is for undergraduate classroom courses offered for credit and includes the class syllabus, faculty curriculum vitae, cost of attendance, and budget information. 


Curriculum vitae for each regular instructor will include the instructor's postsecondary education, teaching experience, and significant professional publications. The vitae may not include personal information, such as home address or home telephone number.

Hill College is transitioning to Simple Syllabus for syllabus management. Public access to syllabi from prior to Spring 2025 will remain available on MyHC.

For Syllabi and CVs from Spring 2025 and beyond:

  1. Go to the Simple Syllabus Library.
  2. Select the relevant term:
    • For instructor CVs prior to Spring 2025, select "CVs prior to 2025."
    • For syllabi prior to Spring 2025, follow the MyHC instructions below.
  3. Enter a search term (course, subject, or instructor) in the “Looking for something…” field.
  4. Use filters to refine your search by subject, course, or instructor.
  5. If available, hover over the syllabus to View or Print.
  6. The syllabus will include the Instructor CV section.

 

For Syllabi from Prior to Spring 2025:

  1. Go to the Syllabus Search page on MyHC.
  2. Enter a search term in one of the available fields, select the appropriate Term, and click Search.
  3. Locate the course and click on the Course Name.
  4. Click the Syllabus link for the course you wish to view.

Student evaluations of faculty, as required by TEC 51.974, are publicly available in the Course Evaluations listing.

To Access Evaluations:

  1. Go to the Course Evaluations page.
  2. Enter the Course Code, Course Title, or Instructor Name in the search field.
  3. Click the magnifying glass to search.
  4. View matching course evaluations on the results page.
  5. Use the filters in the left-hand menu to refine or restart your search.

Departmental budget details are available on the Financial Transparency webpage.

To Access Budget Reports:

  1. Navigate to the Financial Transparency page.
  2. Locate the Annual Budget section.
  3. Click on an Operating Budget report to view department budgets.

The information must be accessible from the institution's website home page by use of not more than three clicks; searchable by keywords and phrases; and accessible to the public without requiring registration or use of a username, a password, or any other user identification 

The institution shall make the information available no later than the seventh day after the first day of class for the semester or other academic term during which the course is offered. 

The institution shall continue to make the information available on the institution's website until at least the second anniversary of the date on which the institution initially posted the information.
