Jeff Sanders grew up in Blum, Texas. After high school, he enrolled at Hill College, where he graduated in 1996 with an associate degree in agricultural business.

Sanders then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville. “I chose to go to Tarleton to earn my degree in ag business, but I started participating in the intramural sports and decided to change my major to exercise and sports studies with a minor in business administration.”

He graduated from Tarleton in 1998 and decided to pursue a career in education and coaching. After several years working for Blum Independent School District (BISD) as a teacher and coach, he went back to Tarleton to work on his master’s degree. In 2008, he received his Master of Arts in education.

Sanders is currently the superintendent at BISD, a position he has held for the last seven years. Throughout his career, he has been a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and superintendent. Sanders has spent his entire professional career at the school district. “I am truly blessed to be part of a great school district and community.”

During his time at Hill College, he was actively involved on the rodeo team, competing in team roping. “I loved my years at Hill College. We had a great rodeo team. Paul and Traci Brown are such good people. They have helped so many young college students over the years. I still see them from time to time and always enjoy visiting with them about the many rodeo athletes they have helped. They were both very influential in keeping me on the path to graduation,” said Sanders.

Sanders and his wife, Sheri, have been married for over 20 years. They have two daughters together. Their oldest, Kylie, received her bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University. She is currently working on her master’s. Their youngest, Payden, is a senior at Blum High School and is active in the sports program, participating in all girls’ sports in addition to many extracurricular activities. In their spare time, Sanders and his wife team rope together on weekends.
