On April 22 and 24, 2024, Hill College celebrated student achievements at the annual Spring Fling Awards, including academic awards and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society induction, at both the Hill and Johnson County campuses.
The award ceremonies were part of a week-long event that celebrates students, campus life, financial literacy, and the performing arts.
All students who received an academic award were nominated by faculty members as individuals who achieved academic excellence during the 2023–2024 school year.
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honorary scholarship society for community and technical colleges whose mission is to recognize the academic achievement of college students. The Hill College chapter, Nu Xi, was established in 1964. Requirements for inductees include a minimum of 12 hours of college-level coursework completed at Hill College with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and who are currently enrolled at Hill College.
“One of the most favorite times of year is highlighting student academic excellence. The atmosphere of celebration, support, and pride is inspiring. Watching the faculty engage with their students illustrates the quality of teaching and learning provided at Hill College. To be able to share this evening with everyone, especially the students and their families, makes me proud to be a part of the Hill College Family,” said Vice President of Student Learning and Success Irene Accomando.
