Hill College Board of Regents holds October monthly meeting

On October 15, 2024, the Hill College Board of Regents met for the monthly regular session meeting.
The minutes from the September regular and closed meetings were approved. The September financial report was presented and approved.
President Mills presented his report, including a recap of the recent meeting between representatives from the board of regents and the Hill College Foundation board of directors with the Gonser-Gerber consultant to discuss advancement initiatives; a summary of the use of reserve funds; mention of numerous recent college events including the Howard and Sherry Dudley Snap-On Building dedication ceremony, the Performing Arts Series performance, and Courtside Celebration for Volleyball; regents were invited to join upcoming events including the truck driving academy ribbon cutting, Celebrate the Diamond softball event, Wallace-Galloway trail ribbon cutting, and the Veteran’s Day commemoration.
An update on enrollment was presented; overall enrollment in the second eight-week semester has increased over last year.
Personnel updates were also presented and approved.
Dean Randy Graves presented the athletic report and gave updates on all sports. Women’s soccer is currently undefeated and will be participating in the Region V championship.
Executive Director Kevin Rocha presented an esports report and explained how the program is participating in both the National Association of College Esports (NACE) and the National Junior College Athletics Association Esports (NJCAAE). All teams across the different game titles have been performing exceptionally well.
Director Matt Southard presented Consideration of Approval of Bids for the sewer line replacement at HCC by Lone Star Plumbing & Backhoe Service for a total of $60,893. The motion passed.
Vice President of Student Learning & Success Irene Accomando presented Consideration of Approval of ECHO Clinical Agreements to create clinical opportunities for ECHO students at Wright Diagnostic Imaging and Crescent Regional Hospital, the motion passed.
VP Accomando presented Consideration of Approval of 2024-2025 Catalog Revision to update courses in the core curriculum section, the motion passed.
Executive Director Tamy Rogers presented Consideration of Approval of Title IX Report, which was approved.
Members present: David Teel, Karen Brackin, Jolene Lehmann, Tony Marley, Jennifer Nowlin, Dwight Lloyd, Bill Siddons, and Bill Galiga.
The Hill College Board of Regents meets the third Tuesday of every month.
