On October 23, 2025, the Hill College Players open the 2025–2026 season with Scotland Road by Jeffrey Hatcher.
Scotland Road is the 1993 winner of the Lois and Richard Rosenthal’s fifth annual New Play Prize. Set in the 1990s, the production tells the story of a beautiful young woman found floating on an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic. When rescued, she says only one word—Titanic. In a stark white room, a mysterious man, named John, and a skeptical doctor, named Halbrech, proceed to play a cat-and-mouse game with her, probing and searching for ways to break her down.
“Hatcher's Scotland Road pushes the characters and the audience to question their identity, how they see themselves, and how the world sees them. As John confronts this supposed survivor of the Titanic disaster, he discovers more about himself and his world. Cast and crew have had many in-depth discussions about these characters, their motivations, and how their stories intertwine across time in this psychological thriller,” said Dr. Jenny Corder, professor of drama & Phi Theta Kappa advisor.
“Hatcher has not just written a mystery. He actually probes who we really are inside as opposed to what image we present to the world.”—The Cincinnati Post
