In an effort to be a pillar of support for the communities it serves, Hill College announced that it is partnering with North Central Texas Workforce Solutions and Eden Green Technology to offer scholarships to current employees who are losing their jobs since the company recently announced it will be closing its doors.
Eden Green stated last month that it would be closing its doors, laying off nearly 100 employees, from senior management to production and packing staff.
As part of the college’s mission to empower student learning and community enrichment through quality education, Hill College President Dr. Thomas Mills saw an opportunity to offer the employees of Eden Green a chance to further their education and obtain or learn new skills by providing scholarships dedicated to those individuals.
“It is an honor and a privilege to partner with North Central Texas Workforce Solutions and the community to support the displaced Eden Green workforce,” said Dr. Mills. “Our ability to provide scholarships to the entire workforce is a testament to Hill College as a beacon of excellence that improves lives through educational excellence. Whether you are a displaced worker looking for a new position, trying to upskill for career advancement, or simply enjoy learning, Hill College has high-quality academic and technical courses and programs at your fingertips. Kudos to the Eden Green leadership in standing shoulder to shoulder with their people in this challenging time.”
The scholarship offers Eden Green employees the opportunity to enroll in just one class, or a full course load, and will cover 75% of the tuition and fees at any of the college’s campuses. This opportunity is only being offered for the spring 2026 semester, so employees are encouraged to enroll now as funds are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
“I never thought I would have the chance to go to college. Having the opportunity to go and feel like I have someone on my side while I’m able to chase my dream is very exciting.” — scholarship recipient.
The application process is simple, apply to enroll at the college via ApplyTexas, submit your transcripts, complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), and complete the Hill College scholarship application.
Following acceptance, individuals will meet with an advisor to help with the registration process and discuss career interests.
Once registered, students will need to confirm payment arrangements, purchase any textbooks or required supplies, and check updates on class information, dates, and times. New students are encouraged to attend orientation, which will be held the week of January 19, 2026.
