Registration at Hill College is always open for the full academic year. Students can apply for all course sessions, including the 16-week fall and spring semesters; all eight-week and mini sessions; as well as the 11-week and two five-week summer sessions.
The Business & Industry Pathway offers a variety of growing and robust programs, including welding, industrial maintenance, and the truck driving academy - for both CDL and Heavy Haul certifications.
The Welding Program is offered at both Hill County Campus (HCC) and the Cleburne Technical Center (CTC) as well as dual credit availability. Welding is a high-demand industry in the state of Texas, with an expected 23% increase by 2030. The program is expected to increase its stackable skill certifications in the coming year to align with emerging demand, developing and launching new courses to provide frontline, cutting-edge education in emerging technologies and fabrication skills as well as updating equipment and lab infrastructure to support training for industry standards. By partnering with Lincoln Electric and NC3, a network of education providers and corporations that support, advance, and validate new and emerging technology skills, allows students to receive quality training and essential job skills.
The Industrial Maintenance Program is a fast-developing program, with four certificates as well as an option for an associate degree. Continued growth of the industry, particularly in the North Texas area (DFW to Waco), provides graduates with a strong job force after graduation. There are also on-ramp classes offered every semester. The program is currently working with Molson Coors and Johns Mansville, allowing students to work with two international industry partners.
The Truck Driving Academy is also offered at both HCC and the Johnson County Campus (JCC). The CDL Program provides comprehensive training, real-world experience, and state-of-the-art technology. All instructors have a record of real-world, truck-driving experience. Students train on standard transmission trucks, allowing them to qualify for a no-restriction Class-A commercial driving license (CDL). Both campuses offer a dedicated driving range for students to practice.
The Academy also offers a Heavy-Haul Program for individuals who already have their CDL. Hill College is the only college-based institution in the United States to offer such training. The program provides training for drivers to serve such industries as aerospace, energy, maritime, mining, and construction, as well as steermen, route surveyors, and pilot/escort vehicle operators.
Other programs in the Business & Industry Pathway include agriculture, automotive, HVAC, business administration, and office administration. Most recently, the pathway has begun offering Texas real estate and home inspection courses leading to licensure for both.
Both prospective and current students are encouraged to reach out to advisors and program coordinators for more information.
