Hill College’s Phillip H. Lowe Performing Arts Series presents Prohibition: A Musical Comedy to open 2026–2027 season

The Hill College Phillip H. Lowe Performing Arts Series (PAS) continues its 33rd season with Prohibition: A Musical Comedy at the Vara Martin Daniel Performing Arts Center (PAC) at the Hill County Campus (HCC) on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 7 p.m.   

Produced by Texas Comedies, an Austin-based group of actors and musicians, Prohibition tells the story of the Anti-Saloon League and an owner of a nearby speakeasy during the 1920s prohibition era.   

Featuring live music, this original musical presents a comical version of the story of Prohibition and the fight between the “Wets” and the “Drys”—a tale of the temperance movement and the conflict between those who wanted strict enforcement of prohibition and those who supported local speakeasies, bootlegging, and the smuggling of booze.  

“Having experienced the musical and dramatic quality, as well as the humor, of Crash at Crush in the 31st season of the Performing Arts Series, we are excited to open this season with the original musical comedy Prohibition by Texas Comedies,” said Professor of Music & Coordinator of Visual & Performing Arts Larry McCord.
