Hill College Hosts Second Annual Dual Credit Meeting for Area ISDs

Hill College recently hosted for the second year in a row the “Best Practices in Dual Credit” meeting for service area ISD superintendents, principals and counselors at the HILCO Civic & Event Center in Itasca. ISD personnel had options to choose among breakout sessions depending on their interest. 

Hill College President Dr. Pam Boehm welcomed the principals and counselors. Regina Paneitz, director of dual credit, gave an overview of dual credit. Core curriculum and education plans were discussed. High school representatives then had the opportunity to sit in on table talk sessions regarding instruction, funding, recruitment, testing and scheduling. 

In the afternoon, adjunct faculty attended and were welcomed by Vice President of Instruction Dr. Kerry Schindler. Kathleen Pustejovsky, director of student information services, and Lisa Branham, records and student success coordinator, discussed registration and enrollment processes including roster certifications, drop/add and withdrawal, census date and grades. 

Dal Lamphere, director of testing, discussing the testing services that are available at Hill College campuses in Hill County and Johnson County. 

Vice President of Student Services Lizza Trenkle discussed campus safety and accommodations including campus carry, sexual assault, emergency operation plan, Clery Act and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). 

Jamie Jaska, director of human resources, discussed Title IX and Bonnie Gunn, payroll and benefits coordinator, discussed the new employee hiring process. 

Faculty Development Coordinator Charlene Awadjie-Ihedioha and Director of Educational Support Services Joe Shaughnessy discussed the library services available at Hill College, the Schoology system and Echo 360. 

Dean of Academic Pathways Nancy McKenzie discussed arts and humanities academic pathway options, as well as STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) academic pathway options. 

Dean of Career and Technical Education Dr. Kayla Kelly discussed the business and industry career pathway options. 

Dean of Health and Public Services Lori Moseley discussed the health and public services career pathway options. 

High School representatives attended from Aquila, Burleson, Burleson – Centennial, Burleson – Collegiate Early College, Cleburne, Covington, Grandview, Hillsboro, Hubbard, Itasca, Joshua, Keene, Kopperl, Meridian, Mt. Calm and Rio Vista.
