Brightspace Learning Management System

Hill College has selected Brightspace as our new learning management system. At the conclusion of Summer courses, students will no longer use Schoology to view courses. Beginning with Fall 2024 courses, students will use Brightspace to view courses.

Logging in to Brightspace

To log into Brightspace, you should click the Single Sign-On link on the Hill College homepage or navigate to the Student Survival Page on the Hill College website and follow these directions: 

  1. Click on Student Single Sign-On
  2. Enter your username (typically in the format firstname.lastname)
  3. Follow the prompts for multi-factor authentification

Brightspace will be an option on the Single Sign-On dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

New Brightspace accounts are created within 2 hours of the completion of course registration. Clicking on the Brightspace ‘tile’ in the Single Sign-On dashboard before an account is created will return you to the Single Sign-On dashboard.

Though courses you are enrolled in will appear on your home page, the course may not be accessed until three days before the term begins. If you still cannot access a course by the first day of class, please see the Get Help section at the bottom of this page to let us know your issue.

Changes to course registration, including a new enrollment, change, drop, or withdrawal, should take effect within 2 hours of you receiving confirmation in MyHC or in your student email. If you do not see your registration change has taken effect in Brightspace after 2 hours, please see the Get Help section at the bottom of this page to let us know your issue.

Yes, Brightspace is compatible with a Chromebook.

You can use an up-to-date version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.

Yes, instructors can still require Respondus LockDown Browser for online testing in Brightspace.
Yes, instructors can still choose to add on the webcam requirement for online testing. Additionally, Chromebooks will now be able to use Respondus Monitor by installing the LockDown Browser web extension. For student-owned Chromebooks, a video can be found here. For school-owned Chromebooks, the web extension should already have been installed by your school’s IT department.
Yes, you can use a computer at one of the Hill College libraries. Library computers will have Respondus LockDown Brower installed, but not all computers will have webcam capability. Go to the Library web page for contact information.

No, Brightspace will not have a Student Messaging group.

When you are logged in to Brightspace, you can access chat support by clicking on the blue Get Help icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
